Salem Oregon Horse Property

Is moving to Rural Oregon Right For You?

Oregon is a beautiful State to live in.  We have the Pacific Coast Range, the lush Willamette Valley, the Cascade Mountain Range, the High Desert of Central and SE Oregon, and the mountain climate of the Northeast.

Pacific Oregon Coast

When new clients contact me about moving here from out of State, they have a particular climate in mind.  They might be leaving an area that gets a lot of snow, and just don't want to deal with it anymore.  So I suggest they look at the Willamette Valley, the Coast or Southern Oregon.  Others are looking for more humidity, a climate that lends itself to growing a garden.  The Willamette Valley is perfect for that!  Some contact me looking to escape the high temperatures in Summer.  I suggest the Coast, or Willamette Valley.  Others like like a little snow in Winter, and want to escape the dampness of rain.  Central and Eastern Oregon are the best.

Central Oregon

Of course, the Valley is the most populated, following the I5 corridor.  Central Oregon has a fair population, but still wide open spaces that you don't feel crowded.  The Coast has many little towns scattered up and down 101, and a couple of more established towns that you would have good everyday shopping and dining options in.

And then there is the equine factor.  The Willamette Valley can get boggy, depending on the property.  So buying the right land in the Valley is critical for horse owners.  Central and Eastern Oregon have the ideal weather and soil for horses, with the well drained sand/lava arid soils.  In fact, there are still bands of wild horses in South East Oregon! And depending on your need to be near competition sites, such as show grounds, the best location may be determined by your riding discipline.

So give me a call or shoot me an email and lets talk about what part of Oregon is right for you!
